A. Thanks for the question. We will include two thoughts on this question. The question, "do we reunite with our loved ones when we die", is a hard question that some Christians might have different opinions on. First, as followers of Jesus Christ and believers in the inspired Word of God (the Bible), I would say the answer is,yes. At some level, people will be reunited with their loved ones in eternity - if you have the same destination as your loved one(s). The Bible teaches us that there are two destinations - Heaven and Hell; both of them are eternal and permanent. After death there is not a time period where a “higher power” decides which destination is the one we will be heading to. There is not an opportunity to go to one and “work our way to the other.” Our destination of Heaven and Hell is determined by our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, committing our lives to Him, recognizing that we are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. We need a mediator, Jesus. When we can realize our state and need for a savior, by putting our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, we will be in Heaven (which is also called Paradise)!!! So, assuming that both parties are Heaven-bound, then I believe that Scripture teaches us that we will “reunite” with our loved ones.

I'm Not Average

You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great. II Samuel 22:36 (NIV)

The other day I was shopping for appliances and the salesman, who was hoping to sell me an upgrade, asked me, “Do you consider yourself to be just average?”

My quick reply was, “Yes”. In my mind I was thinking that actually I was probably below average. After all, I have never made any daring rescues, never invented anything to help mankind, never been famous for anything---just a plain-Jane housewife who gets up in the morning, cleans house, runs errands, makes dinner, does dishes, and walks the dogs. Nothing great---nothing outstanding about my life . . . just average . . . maybe even a little below.

But I was wrong. You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great. Wow! God stoops down to an average, ordinary me and makes me more than average. He makes me great! He gives me victory! How awesome is that! Without God we may be just average men and women, but when God is in our hearts part of His greatness lives within us and we also become great---not only great, but also victorious. There is no more need to feel inferior, dejected or depressed. God stoops down and makes us great.

Do I still consider myself to be average? Absolutely not. My God lives within me and that makes me very special.

Lord, please come down and live in my heart. Let your glory and your strength shine through me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
