Anticipating My Present

Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13(KJV)

Standing in the department store, I was near the section where Santa Claus sat. Children were standing in line, holding their parent's hand as they waited their turn with anticipation to sit on the lap of the jolly old man in red with his white hair and beard. They knew exactly what they were going to tell him. Santa would listen to the children as they called off the items they wanted for Christmas. When the children would get down from his lap, you could see the joy and excitement in their little faces. They were all aglow with expectations. They would be looking for the glorious day Santa Claus would come with his big red bag packed to the brim with their presents.

A question came to me as I stood and watched them. Why wasn’t I looking for that day when my Lord and Savior would arrive with the same wonderful excitement they were feeling? Why wasn’t I anticipating His wonderful return?

Lord, feel me with the wonder and excitement of knowing you will be returning soon. To look forward to receiving all the presents you have for me. Promises and blessing that are just for me. What a glorious day. My enthusiasm for that day should be building to overflowing delight.
