Entering A New Year
Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 (NIV)I always enjoy the end of the year; checking over the year’s list of goals, the ones with a big tick of accomplishment and fulfilment, as well as those I may not have completed, yet. These I place at the top of the New Year’s list with fresh determination and resolve.
I particularly enjoy forming the list of new goals for the coming year under the previous year’s leftovers. They don’t have to be major things. Little things done in a great way satisfies me more and more each year. The list includes things needed, things I want to see, do, try, make, and give, and so on.
Usually it is items and happenings which require a bit of planning, some extra effort, and saving toward, that I can fit within certain periods of time throughout the year. I love this preparation time for the New Year. I feel it gives me a directional map to follow.
I’ve learned "the hard way" that after all the preparation is done, to hold every goal and plan loosely before my Lord, and "Pray!" My favorite prayer is: “Nevertheless, Lord, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done,” and “Whatever You think is a fair thing, Lord.”
This prayer always keeps life interesting and often dynamic as I watch God change, or add to my best-laid plans and priorities for something much more beneficial and worthwhile. Either way the big tick and the best joy of fulfilment is the result, as I’m guided by Him.
Lord in all our doings, remind us to keep surrendered to You. Thank You for all the years, and especially thank You for this one 2010. Please help us to live it pleasing You. Amen and Amen.
