The Hammer Parable

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 (NIV)

The hammer tried in vain to drive in the screw; it hammered, beat, and hit, doing everything it knew how, and what it normally does so well, but only chewed up the wood and ruined the screw, never completing the task.

The screwdriver tried in vain to find a way to grip the nails' head, but always slid off to the side, occasionally digging into the wood, but not doing the job it had set out to do.

Both the screwdriver and the hammer had good intentions, but only ended up wounding themselves and the things around them. One day they realized the truth: If the right tools are used with the right equipment, the job will get done. If you want to figure out how life works best, you'll need the right tool.

And I guess you could say that He already provided the hammer and the nails.

Jesus, the Master Carpenter of my life, take me in your hand and use me in the best way possible for your Kingdom.
