Know My Thoughts

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)

To really understand this scripture and to allow our Lord God to search us, and try us, truly opens our lives to the way everlasting. Asking God to search us, means giving Him the privilege to enter into the inner most part of our lives. To know our hearts just like we know it. To hide no secrets or hold back in any way to God's probing. Can we truly be so honest with ourselves to let this happen? Can we be so prepared for God's correction and direction?

The amazing thing is that God already knows our heart and the thoughts that we think. However, God will never violate our thoughts or the intent of the heart except by invitation. In asking God to go ahead and search us, try us to see if there is any wicked way in us, acknowledges God's sovereignty in our lives. We can now allow God to do that perfect work in us and lead us in that way everlasting.

To experience God's best we need to give Him our all. Giving Him our all, means to relinquish self, dethrone it, and give way to the God who is all knowing. Maybe you, like me have held back for so long in allowing God total access to the throne of our hearts. Maybe you, just like me, are now ready to pray:

Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
