The Sky’s Declaration

The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

As I drove home with my children from my in-laws, we crossed a bridge over Tampa Bay. The city of Tampa was in the midst of a storm. Above the blackness, white clouds towered and sparkled with pink, purple, orange, and yellow. In the middle of radiant colors the white milky marble, the moon, stood proud and majestic as it reflected the sun’s light. The scene reminded me of Psalm 19:1 “The Heavens declare the glory of God…”

I thought of our family situation – my father-in-law’s Alzheimers, my mother-in-law’s cancer and my husband’s added responsibilities, leaving less time for our family. I felt helpless and alone. The skies shouted, “Yes this is a dark time. You feel overwhelmed and alone; however, my Creator is still there for you. He is above the storm and behind the clouds. This is only for a season. And like the storms and clouds, they will leave and the sun will return."

Now when I watch sunsets or storm clouds, I remember God is bigger than any circumstance in my life. He is there. And peace and comfort come when I focus on what He will do through it all.

Heavenly Father, as storms of life come, remind me that the circumstances will pass. Open my eyes to see Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
