A Lesson Learned

These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NIV)
One night I decided to do a 45 minute Bible Study with my daughters ages 8, 9, and 12. The study was on prayer. I told them to always go to God whenever they had a need. I tried to enforce the concept that God could meet all their needs.

Suddenly, in the middle of the study my husband needed help with something. It wasn't his fault but I became agitated.

"How am I ever going to teach the children about Jesus," I thought?

Later on that evening I went to tuck each girl into bed and say good night. As I approached my oldest daughter's room she wasn't in her bed and I began to panic. I called for her.

"I'm over here," I heard a faint voice say from the corner where her bean bag lay. As I looked toward the floor she was seated quietly on her knees praying. I wept. I learned that sometimes it only takes just a few minutes and a willing heart to make a difference.

Lord, forgive me for the times I get discouraged. Let me always remember that time spent serving you is never time wasted. Thank you for all your many blessings you have given me. I love you, Lord. Amen.
