Does God Speak in an Audible Voice?

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)

Many of us are fortunate to have our own Bible, and putting the Word of God in our mind is most important, but it’s the Seed of Christ in our hearts that makes us different. Once His Spirit is indwelling we will always have a present help in time of trouble.

There is no comfort like His comfort for your particular problem, and knowing the Author of the Book personally, is much better than just having a copy of His book. He’s here to answer any questions you might be desperate to know. Desperate is a key word, if you look to this one, or that one, you’ll have plenty of input, but only when you're finally frantic, and at your wits end, then you may hear His still small voice speak volumes to your circumstance.

I once heard a story of a pastor, who after counseling one of his parishioners, that same person went out and committed suicide. That pastor felt he not only failed his congregation, but also God. He planned to leave his assembly never to pastor again. He was praying and seeking God’s forgiveness when he heard the Lord say, “Your congregation needs you now, you must go to them.”

To which he replied, “Father, how can they need me after what’s happened.”

And he heard God say, “Didn’t even My Son lose one to suicide? You are only responsible for carrying the message, not the body. Go back to your people.” Which is exactly what he did. Only God knew what to say to that pastor, and He knows exactly what it is you need to hear.

Father I pray that we are not only challenged to read Your Word but to know Your Voice. For Your sheep cannot be fooled. John 10:4 says we will follow You and know Your voice. This is Your promise to those who put their trust in You. Amen.
