Only God Knows

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son but only the Father. Matthew 24:36 (NIV)

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of the law. Deuteronomy 29:29 (NIV)

It is natural to seek answers from God concerning certain happenings in our lives and around us. We don't always receive answers. When we don't, other things begin to show up. Doubt, anxiety, frustration, anger and even lack of faith. We want to understand or get an explanation of things for us to move on, but God is not obligated to give explanations whatsoever.

I have many unanswered questions and I have agonised over them to an extent where I almost lost my faith. God helped me to accept that some of my questions may never be answered in this life. He assured me of His love through His Word even when some things are still unclear. Certain things are the pure prerogative of God and He has exclusive rights.

I have found contentment in trusting God even when I don't understand all the reasons why things have happened. Faith is the substance of things not seen but also the continual trust in God when things manifest contrary to our expectation.

The return of Jesus Christ is said to be known only by God the Father, not even Jesus who is to come knows the date or time. Only God knows.

One thing is sure; God's plans for us are always good. He is on our side.

Dear God, help me to trust You with my unanswered questions and to know that you are the answer to all that I seek. In Jesus' name. Amen
