Keep Praying

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9 NKJV

I once prayed for many years for my friend, Donna, to give her heart to the Lord. Donna and I began our friendship as pen pals so most of our conversation was through written letters. Each quarter, I sent her a copy of the devotional booklet I used for my personal devotions. In each of my letters, I would try to include some circumstance where the Lord had worked in my own life. I continued to send the devotional booklets and pray for her even though her response was minimal.

Fifteen years later, I received a note from her saying she had accepted Christ as her Savior. I will never forget the excitement I felt as I read her note. I could almost hear the angels singing and rejoicing over another soul saved! I rarely understand God’s timing, but I do understand that He is truly longsuffering toward us and does not want one soul to be eternally separated from Him.

If you have been praying a long time for a loved one to accept Christ, do not get discourage d. Do not give up – keep praying!

Father, thank You for loving me enough to wait for me to come to You. Help me to be as patient while praying for others who are lost.
