Lost and Found

Key Verse: “Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.” 1 Peter 2:25 (NLT)

My search reached a frantic pace as I filled with anxiety. I was now certain that I had lost my bank card; even worse, I didn’t know where I lost it. Having to assume it was left at the last store I shopped at, I decided it should be replaced immediately. I waited at the bank, relieved once I knew my old card hadn’t been used and a new one had been issued.

We’ve all lost something important and most of us have grown anxious at the thought of not finding it. We should take heart, however, that we serve a God who relentlessly pursues us. He won’t go out and replace us if we wander away; he will keep searching with the fervor of a most Holy, Loving Father. It doesn’t matter if we’ve been wandering for ten minutes or ten years, he never gives up. If you’ve lost your way, know that the Shepherd is looking for you. He doesn’t want to condemn you, he wants to restore you. Run to his open arms today; it’s never too late.

Dear Jesus, thank you for never giving up on me or those I love. Help me to remember you are merciful, kind, forgiving, and ready to welcome back anyone who has wandered away.
