“The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.”
Proverbs 27:9 NLT

I have been seeing the same therapist for more years than I can remember. She is available anytime, day or night, seven days a week. She does not have a fancy office. Nor do I need an appointment to speak with her. She prescribes only two medications – coffee and chocolate. My therapist’s name is Lisa.

Whenever I need a therapy session, Lisa meets me at a favorite restaurant. We share food, fellowship, and fun. There is nothing I cannot share with her. As any good therapist, Lisa is a good listener. She offers support, encouragement, and prayer. I can also count on her to offer words of caution if she feels I am heading down a wrong path. Conversation is relaxed and easy. Her therapy is not only helpful, but completely affordable!

We should always take our concerns to God. But He brings the right friends into our life so that we have the support and encouragement we need to get through our tough times and share our good times. Lisa is my therapist, my cheerleader, and my friend. By the way, therapy always includes dessert!

Heavenly Father, thank You for surrounding me with special friends. Help me to be that kind of friend.
