BEHIND THE CAMERA

God spoke, and these were His words. "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt where you were slaves. Worship no god byt me." Exodus 20: 1 & 2. TEV

My son, a nature photographer, wanders the great outdoors focusing his camera on mountains, rivers and wildlife. Seldom does he agree to have a camera focused on him.

As the children of Israel wandered in the desert, Moses' greatest challenge was to keep them focused on God and His ability and willingness to provide for them. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." was God's command to them. Again and again their focus shifted. Was not Egyptian slavery better than what God was providing for them? There they ate melons and berries.

Should my son prefer that his camera be focused on himself, few nature scenes would be captured on his film. And each time we focus on our problems rather than on God's power, we miss the beauty and blessings that come from placing our trust in Him.

Lord, keep us ever mindful of your promises to provide for us. Help us to stay focused on your provision rather than on our problems. Amen.
