But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. 2Thessalonians 3:3
When I was a little girl and something frightened me, for example - storms, angry dog next door, or my parents having an argument, I would hide behind the big red, velvet chair in my living room. And, it made me feel less afraid. There was a great comfort staring at the back of that velvet chair. I would lean against its soft cloth or even rub my face against the short fur, close my eyes and forget about the loud noises around me.
In Proverbs 30:5, God teaches us His Word saying ‘Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.’
As I live my life, I am content most of the time. However when I am afraid, I no longer hide behind the big red, velvet chair. But, still in the silence, I do continue to rely on God to help me deal with whatever life brings my way. I trust in God’s Word. If you consider how many millions of people have entrusted His Word for thousands of years, including many very bright scholars, it is difficult to even consider discrediting His Words. They have outlived ever fad, fashion, trend, milestone, historic event, and every leader. That alone gives us every reason to put our faith in God for our every need.
The light of God surrounds me;
The love of God enfolds me;
The power of God protects me;
The presence of God watches over me;
Wherever I am, God is!
